Fish Mummies

We can make our own mummies.  Pilchards are the fish of choice.  We needed a small fish or the whole process will take too long.  Mrs Bing cleaned and gutted the fish.  Then it was up to us to carefully dry them.  If we were not careful the fish would start to fall to pieces.  The instructions said that the fish needed to be scaled.  But because they had been frozen, the fish were very delicate and we didn't want to damage them.  Once the fish were dry we opened them up and put baking soda inside.  Then we put them in a plastic bag with lots of baking soda.  We hope they don't smell when we get back to school on Tuesday.  Next Thursday we need to take the fish out of the bags and change the baking soda.  We might need nose pegs.
